NYC BBQ Landmark Goes Wireless

Three Printers Were Chosen to Integrate with Apple® iPad®

Star Micronics America, a leading worldwide manufacturer of point of service printers, recently had three different printers installed at celebrity owned restaurant, Southern Hospitality in New York City.

Breadcrumb POS, a leading New York based point of sale software developer, appointed the help of Star Micronics’ printers because of their ability to seamlessly integrate with an Apple® iPad®. Since the installation of the Breadcrumb POS software required five Apple® iPads®, one TSP743IIL Ethernet Thermal printer, three TSP743IIU USB Thermal printers, and one SP742ML Ethernet Impact printers were chosen. Also included in the installation were five MagTek iDynamo Swipes, five Archelon Security Stands, two APG Vessario VB320 Cash Drawers, and one Apple® Airport Extreme.

The management at Southern Hospitality initiated the install after they became frustrated with the high cost of their previous point of sale system. They also often suffered from system-wide crashes that would interrupt service for long periods of time.

The new installation required minimal training and started using the new POS system the same day it was installed. Southern Hospitality has reduced their business costs, increased operational visibility, and streamlined labor performance as a result of implementing the new POS solution.

Star Micronics America, a leading worldwide manufacturer of point of service printers, has announced that their TSP100 and TSP700II printers have been certified by Share One to integrate seamlessly with their NewSolutions software.

Share One  and Star’s relationship flourished after Share One began testing Star printers with their software. Share One began recommending and installing Star’s thermal printers when many of their customers decided to start replacing their dot matrix printers and transition to thermal printing technology.

“At Share One, we are constantly looking for solutions to help our clients achieve their budgetary and service goals,” stated Scott Bush, Chief Technology Officer at Share One.  “Star printers are cost effective, easy to install and offer our credit union customers the reliability they need.”

NewSolutions core processing software provides a full range of advanced features, including comprehensive support for consumer, mortgage, and commercial loans, a full suite of Internet based solutions, and can be delivered via in-house, service center, or server hosted. In order to become certified with NewSolutions software, the TSP100 and TSP700II had to have the ability to be implemented across multiple Windows platforms and be Citrix compliant.

“Star printers have long been a staple in the credit and banking markets. We are pleased to offer our printers to Share One’s clients and be aligned with such a reputable leader in this market,” said Christophe Naasz, Director of Marketing at Star Micronics America, Inc.

The TSP100 is the first all-in-one receipt printer and offers an internal power supply and high throughput of 22 receipts per minute (RPM). Star’s TSP700II boasts a print speed of 48 RPM and is ideal for high-volume establishments such as banks, credit unions and other financial institutions.

Reviewing our tradeshow schedule for the upcoming weeks, I noticed how much our show demographics have changed and grown to include so much more than our traditional retail and hospitality shows. The first  half of 2012 will see Star printers at card technology and transaction shows. healthcare shows for our secured prescription printer, and banking shows.  Star offers unique solutions for non-traditional POS markets.

One of our offers for the banking industry is the FVP10 printer.  The versatile FVP-10 has become a popular install in credit unions. It also pairs well with Canon’s imageFORMULA CR-80 Check Transport, which is an easy-to-use solution offering high-quality image scanning, precise MICR accuracy, and reliable item handling. Reaching scanning speeds of up to 80 cpm(2), it is ideal for moving paper checks and related small documents in front-counter bank teller settings, for merchant/remote deposit capture (RDC) applications, and for low-volume remittance processing. Star’s  FVP-10 thermal receipt printer,  when combined with the CR-80, using the mounting platform accessory developed by Star,  delivers a stable teller window/retail Point of Sale (POS) solution with a small footprint. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/canon-showcasing-imageformula-scanning-solutions-for-community-banks-at-icba-techworld-show-2012-03-09
